Get the current active user uid, roles and load user object programmatically in drupal 8 and drupal 9.

$current_user = \Drupal::currentUser(); //returns an AccountProxyInterface object and not a UserInterface object
$current_user_uid = $current_user->id(); // numberic uid value
$current_user_roles = $current_user->getRoles(); // array List of role IDs

// Check user has specific role; example 'administrator' role
if (in_array('administrator', $current_user_roles)) {
    // do something if user has this role
}

// to load user object of current logged user
$user = \Drupal\user\Entity\User::load($current_user_uid);
//or
$current_user_object = \Drupal\user\Entity\User::load(\Drupal::currentUser()->id());
