In Drupal 8/9 get the current page URI programmatically by using the following snippet.

GetUri.php

// To get the base url
$host = \Drupal::request()->getSchemeAndHttpHost();
// output: http://drupal9.local

$current_url = \Drupal\Core\Url::fromRoute('<current>');
// output: /node

//Get the url of the request for displayed on the browser.
//Examples for the page http://drupal9.local/simple-custom-form
$current_uri = \Drupal::request()->getRequestUri();

$path = $current_url->toString();
// output: /simple-custom-form

$path1 = $current_url->getInternalPath();
// output: simple-custom-form

$path2 = $current_url->getRouteName();
// output: <current>

$current_path = \Drupal::service('path.current')->getPath();
// output: /simple-custom-form

$result = \Drupal::service('path_alias.manager')->getAliasByPath($current_path);
// output: /simple-custom-form
